NASA notified current NASA SEWP V contract holders the end of February 2026 that the agency’s Information Technology Procurement Office (ITPO) is in the process of obtaining authorization to extend the SEWP V ordering period through September 30, 2026 with an option to further extend through April 30, 2027. NASA anticipates receiving authorization for the extension in early March, 2026. Currently SEWP V is set to expire on April 30 and NASA wants SEWP VI to open for business on May 1, 2026.
According to NASA, SEWP VI source selection activities are nearing completion, but due to the significant number of proposals received, additional time is needed to make awards. Further there were nine outstanding protests issued by vendors who have submitted NASA VI proposals, GAO’s deadlines for ruling on the SEWP VI protests are due to fall between late May and early June 2026, after NASA’s goal of opening the SEWP VI for business by May 1, 2026. NASA indicated it requested the extension of the SEWP V contracts to support an orderly transition between SEWP V and SEWP VI. Based on this activity, there likely will be delays to SEWP VI opening up for orders.
NASA is encouraging vendors to continue to visit the SEWP websites (SEWP V website and SEWP VI website) for updates. If there are any questions feel free to contact your TGG consultant or The Gormley Group at 202-833-1120 or via email at info@gormgroup.com.
