GSA Verified Products Portal (VPP) Overview

What is VPP?

The Verified Products Portal, also known as VPP, is a GSA online platform used by manufacturers to maintain product data while also verifying authorized resellers. Basically, it confirms the products that are authorized for sale under GSA Schedule contracts and who is allowed to sell them. It is voluntary and free to use.

The type of detailed information on VPP:

  • Manufacturer names
  • Manufacturer part numbers
  • Product brand name
  • Product descriptions
  • Product specifications
  • Product images (high and low resolutions)
  • Supplier authorization information
  • Country of Origin (COO)
  • Pricing information (optional)
  • Threshold for which the authenticity of the product is questionable
  • Date of upcoming price increases from the manufacturer

What is the purpose of VPP?

VPP addresses GSA’s concerns over inconsistent or inaccurate product listings within the federal marketplace. VPP was developed to streamline how product data flows from manufacturers and distributors into GSA’s procurement platforms.

How does GSA use VPP data to manage MAS catalogs?

There are several critical ways that GSA uses this information:

  • Identifies prohibited products
  • Feeds directly into GSA Advantage to pre-validate data fields
  •  Verifies Trade Agreement Act (TAA) information for Country of Origin (COO)
  • Alerts GSA if a vendor is authorized, unauthorized, or requires a Letter of Supply (LoS) because the product does not exist in VPP.
  • Decreases a federal buyer’s risk of purchasing counterfeit or otherwise non-compliant products.

Is VPP mandatory to use?

No, participation in VPP is optional for manufacturers.
